St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any questions.
Please do stay for tea and coffee afterwards, and feel free to carry your drink into the main body of the church.
We hope all those who attended the St@PH family for Worship 4 All last Sunday will want to come again. St@PH meets on the second and fourth Sunday of every month at 10.30 a.m. Everyone is always very welcome. The next St@PH service however (as a one off) takes place at the Massey Ferguson Social Club in the rear lounge, commencing at 11 a.m. All welcome.
We are enormously grateful to Marion Cooke for an extremely generous legacy that will greatly assist St Andrews in its ministry to the people of this area. We hope others will be inspired by Marion’s example and will consider making a bequest.
Open Junior Church
We welcome all those children and parents who are joining us for Open Junior Church this morning. Please do come again. Junior Church takes place every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month, catering for ages ranging from 3-11.
John Goodwin/Window Appeal
We are very grateful to Mary Goodwin and her family for their request of their family and friends that they should donate to the St Andrews Window Appeal in memory of John. Our cracks are due to be measured for the final time next month, with a report submitted to the City Council thereafter. Hopefully we can proceed with remedial work by the summer.
Many thanks to all those who made Christmas 2011 such a special time by singing, reading, decorating the church and many other willing volunteers. Thanks also from Greg and Fran for the kind gifts and cards we very gratefully received. God bless you all!
Father Nick Leggett at St Oswalds is leading a pilgrimage to Walsingham next Spring. If you are interested in joining the party, please speak to Greg.
We would very much like additional volunteers for the flower rota. Please consider whether you would like to sponsor flowers at an approximate cost of £10 for a week in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a birthday/anniversary. Please put your name on the rota at the back of church or speak to Ann Dove. You would be asked to specify colours of flowers but would not be expected to undertake the arrangement.
Please support our Youth Service tonight, the first of 2012 which takes place at 6.30 p.m. where the theme is fresh starts. Do encourage our young people in their journey of faith. All (of any age) welcome!
Please see the leaflets at the back of church, which describe the Coventry Pilgrimage that will take place next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Coventry Cathedral. It invites you to walk the Coventry Way either individually or as part of a group.
Service for Christian Unity
Each year a service is hosted in the area to celebrate and pray for Christian unity. The service is attended by Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Methodist and Baptists. This year, the service takes place at St James on Tile Hill Lane next Sunday January 22nd at 6.30 p.m. Please do come along and support your fellow Christians in what is always a joyous occasion. If you need a lift, please speak to Sara Parkes.
With the disbandment of COG (Community Outreach Group), we are still hoping to run a number of events this year to further our links with local people and raise much needed funds for the church. These events potentially include a Quiz Night, Barn Dance and Plant Sale. There is a list at the back of church detail all we hope to offer. We are looking for volunteers to offer to co-ordinate each individual activity. Please think seriously about whether you might be able to do this and sign up if you can.
Many thanks to Barbara and Brian Warner for agreeing to take over the responsibility of co-ordinating the delivery of the Link magazine. We are still seeking a volunteer to deliver to Tilewood Avenue and Orchard Drive. Please speak to Brian or Barbara if able to help. Our most grateful thanks also go to George for his dedication to this cause, along with Marion over many years.
