Pews News – 13/09/2012

St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality.  You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith.  If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any questions.

Special Welcome

To Dawn, Laura and Levi who are being baptised as part of the main service this morning.  Welcome also to those children and their parents who have come especially for Open Junior Church today.

Please do stay for tea and coffee afterwards, and feel free to carry your drink into the main body of the church.

Young children

Parents with young children are especially welcome at St Andrews as our window shows. Please feel free to use the side room during the service.  There are toys and a play mat for your use.

Joint PCC

Please pray for the joint PCC meeting that takes place tomorrow between St Andrews and St Oswalds, a unique gathering, and a wonderful opportunity for the churches to work more closely together.

Many thanks

From Fran for the wonderful love and care shown by the gifts of flowers and cards following her operation.  She and Greg are so grateful to the St Andrews family for their support during this difficult time.

Next Sunday, 23rd September, a new batch of 12 disciples will be sent out from St Andrews at 10 a.m. and then welcomed at St@PH in a commissioning service there.  Please pray for St@PH as it enters this new exciting phase of its development.

Prayer Evening

Our monthly Prayer Meeting takes place tomorrow at 6 p.m. in church for 45 mins, a little earlier than usual because of the early start to the joint PCC meeting.

A second St Andrews Nativity is planned after the great success of the 2010 production.  For those who missed it two years ago, the nativity is a live production of the Christmas story, featuring a unique script, music, impressive staging, with both adult and child performers.  Put the dates in your diary now, since we sold out last time.  Weds 19th Dec to Fri 21st Dec inclusive.  Anyone who missed the auditions yesterday but who is interested in taking part (adult or child) should speak to Greg or Rebecca as soon as possible.

Cake Sale

Charley Watts will be hosting a cake sale after the service next Sunday, as he uses his £10 talent to raise money for church funds.  Do please support him.

Bannerbrook Park

We are seeking a Mission Team of 12 people who will commit themselves to the outreach into Bannerbrook Park.  If you would be willing to join this team or want to know more, please speak to Alex.  Terri Beales has undertaken to pray in a regular, committed way as an intercessor for Bannerbrook Park.  She is looking for another (one or two) people to join her in this vital ministry of intercession.  If you are interested, please speak to Terri or Alex.

Macmillan Coffee Morning Invitation from CLC bookshop

We would like to invite you and all your church congregants to a Macmillan Coffee morning to be held at the CLC bookshop on 28th September 2012, between 10am and 2pm.  There will be coffee supplied by the Fair Trade shop upstairs and home made cakes all we ask is you come prepared to donate.

St Andrews will be hosting a Confirmation Service early in the new year, led by Bishop John, the Bishop of Warwick who visited recently.  Any adult or young person interested in being confirmed or finding out more about confirmation should speak to Greg or Alex.

Autumn Fayre

Many thanks to all who supported the Autumn Fayre last Saturday.  Nearly £1300 was raised in total.  Special thanks to Jackie and her wonderful band of helpers for working so hard to make this happen.  Some toys were left behind afterwards.  If you know who these belong to, please let Greg know.

The first box of food was delivered this week to St Oswald’s Church in Tile Hill to support the new foodbank being launched there.  It would be helpful if someone would volunteer to take responsibility for delivering the food when it is collected, perhaps on a fortnightly basis.  Anyone who thinks they might be able to help with this should speak to Greg about this.

Youth Service

Please support our young people by attending tonight’s Youth Service at 6.30 p.m.  The theme is the gifts God gives us.  Do come and see the wide range of gifts God has distribute among our youth.

Recycling Medicines

One potentially green thing we might do as a church is recycle old medicines.  For this to work, we need a volunteer co-ordinator.  If you feel you may be called to do this, please speak to Greg or Alex about it.

Greg will be running a series of drama workshops for young people (11-14) at Jardine Youth Centre in Tile Hill on Tuesday evenings in September at 5.30 p.m.  Participants need to enrol in advance, so any young person interested in going along should speak to Greg.  Lifts can be arranged.
