St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any questions.
Please do stay for tea and coffee afterwards, and feel free to carry your drink into the main body of the church.
Parents with young children are especially welcome at St Andrews as our window shows. Please feel free to use the side room during the service. There are toys and a play mat for your use.
The PCC have agreed to prioritise outreach to Allesley Green in the wake of the movement of St@PH from Parkhill School. Anyone interested in joining a Mission Group to plan this outreach should speak to Greg.
St Andrews has registered for the Coventry Telegraph Wish 12 appeal. If you have the Telegraph and have not committed your tokens to anyone else, please do support your church. The tokens were published every night in the Telegraph until November 17th and can be placed in the box at the back of church. The more tokens we collect, the greater share of £25,000 we will receive. Please return by December 9th at the very latest.
Very sadly, St@PH has been given notice by Parkhill School because of problems with the insurance. It is unfortunate that the five year relationship has come to an end in this way. St@PH will continue, but at a different venue. Hence, the final St@PH service at the school takes place today at 10.30 a.m. a communion service at which Revd Penny Hughes is presiding. The service on Dec 9th will take place at Woodlands School at the normal time, and will relaunch at Woodlands on Feb 3rd next year.
St Andrews will be hosting a Confirmation Service on Sunday January 13th at 10 a.m. led by Bishop John, the Bishop of Warwick who visited recently. Any adult or young person interested in being confirmed or finding out more about confirmation should speak to Greg or Alex. Confirmation classes for adults will take place on Thurs Dec 6th and Tues Dec 11th at 8.15 p.m. and for young people on Sunday 9th Dec and Sunday Jan 6th at 5 p.m.

At this year’s Toy Service, we are seeking Selection boxes (unwrapped) which will be donated to Tile Hill foodbank. Please give generously. You are also invited to bring a favourite toy (which you can take home again with you!). This applies as much to adults as to children. Dan and Philippa Munday will be speaking at the service on the work they are going to be doing from January with children in Nepal.
Darkness to Light
Last year’s Darkness to Light Service to mark the start of Advent was very well received. This year, the service takes place on Sunday December 2nd at 6 p.m. An atmospheric candle lit service, singing the great Advent hymns and hearing the Advent promise. Do join us if you can.
We would be very pleased to hear from anyone willing to act as sidespeople or read at our Christmas services: Darkness to Light (Dec 2nd); Carol Service (Dec 16th); Crib Services (Dec 24th); Midnight Service and Christmas Day service. Please speak to Greg, Alex or a churchwarden if you are willing to volunteer.

We have established a prayer list for anyone who is unwell. Mary Goodwin has kindly agreed to maintain the list for us. Her telephone number is 7646 4104. Names for the list may be given directly to her or to one of the clergy. Please ensure that in addition to the name, a contact tel no is also provided. Names will be published in pews news for the prayers of the congregation, but will be removed after 6 months (4 weeks for non-parishioners) so that we are praying for people at the time of their most critical need.
