Pews News Oct 27th 2013

October 27th 2013

St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality.  You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith.  If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

Bishop’s Visit

The Bishop of Coventry clearly enjoyed his visit to St Andrews.  He wrote immediately on his return to thank us, and referred to the ‘many signs of wonderful things happening in people’s lives and in the life of the whole congregation’.  Thanks to all those who made him and his intern, Amy welcome and to those who provided cakes.

difficulties that you wish to offer to God; or simply to support others in this vital ministry.

The PCC have agreed that StAPH, our church plant at Woodlands School, will run thrice monthly from November, meeting at 10.30 a.m. on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of each month.  Going forward, we have also agreed to seek to employ a half time leader, with an approximate salary of £11k.  Please speak to Greg or Alex for a job description, person specification or for an informal discussion.  The post will be advertised across other local churches, but we want to do everything possible to encourage applications from within our own fellowship.  Do pray for StAPH as it commences another exciting stage of its journey.

Memorial Service

Our annual Memorial Service takes place next Sunday Nov 3rd at 6pm.  Anyone who wishes to have a loved one remembered by name should contact Alex, Harvey or Greg.

It is essential that all those who work with children attend a church safeguarding briefing.  Linda Chylinksi has kindly agreed to give up a further evening for the benefit of those unable to attend either of the two previous sessions.  This takes place on Monday 28th October at Church.

The latest blog from Dan & Philippa Munday, our missionary partners in Nepal is available to read on the rear noticeboard.

Preaching Course

Have you ever thought you might have a calling to preach?  We are running a short preaching course that is aimed at all who preach in church and those wishing to explore this ministry.  The course runs over two sessions on 2nd & 9th November from 9.30-12pm in Church.  Please see Alex or Greg for further details.

The PCC have agreed to establish a staffed crèche during Sunday communion services starting in December.  We would be grateful to anyone who would be willing to serve on a rota to help with this.  If you are willing to help, please speak to Kate or Greg.
