Pews News – 1st Dec 2013

December 1st 2013

St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality.  You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith.  If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

To all who have given so generously to Myton Hospice in memory of Amanda Evans, Jackie Page’s daughter.  At the last count, nearly £3,000 has been collected.

The church council has agreed to employ a half time leader of StAPH (our church plant that meets at Woodlands School), with a salary of £11k, starting in May.  Please speak to Greg or Alex for an informal discussion.  The job description, person specification and application form are available on the St Andrews Website at  The post is being advertised across other local churches, but we want to do everything possible to encourage applications from within our own fellowship.  Do pray for StAPH as it commences another exciting stage of its journey.

Darkness to Light

Do join us this evening at 6 p.m. for our annual Darkness to Light service: Advent carols and readings by candlelight.

We hold our annual Toy Service this morning at 10 a.m.  However, it will be possible to bring new unwrapped toys to place under the Christmas Tree for a couple of weeks.  They will be donated to Coventry City Mission and distributed to children who will otherwise have nothing or very little at Christmas.

Thank you to those who volunteered to help in the crèche.  We still need a couple more people to staff the rota adequately.  Please speak to Greg or Kate if you are willing to help.  The crèche will start early in the new year once the necessary checks have taken place.

Volunteers for Christmas Services

Anyone prepared to read at the Midnight Communion or act as sidesperson should speak to Greg.
