Pews News – 26/01/2014

January 26th 2014

Welcome
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality.  You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith.  If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

Special Welcome
To Sue Masters who was licensed as a Reader in this diocese last Saturday at Coventry Cathedral and will be serving at St Andrews in the months and years to come.

Julie Crow
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Julie Crow as our new administrator.  In her role as Parish Administrator, Julie will be the first point of contact for all routine enquiries about church matters.  Her e-mail address is: administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk

With the exception of Fridays (clergy day off), pastoral concerns may still be directly referred to one of the clergy.

Pastoral Care Co-ordinator
We are extremely grateful to David Griffiths for agreeing to take on the role of pastoral care co-ordinator for St Andrews.  David may be contacted on 01676 442240.  He would be keen to hear from anyone currently undertaking pastoral visiting or who might like to in the future.

StAPH Leader
Please pray for the panel who will be interviewing for a StAPH leader tomorrow morning.  No announcement will be made for at least 2 weeks, since any appointment will have to be endorsed by the PCC at its meeting on Feb 10th.

Care of Creation Champion
The Diocese is encouraging every church to appoint a Care of Creation Champion, who will take responsibility for liaising with the diocese over environmental issues.  A role description is available for this.  Please speak to Alex if you wish to know more or would like to consider volunteering to be St Andrews representative.

St Andrews Web address
Please note the St Andrews Church website address has changed: www.standrews-eg.org.uk  However, if you continue to use the old address, you will still be directed immediately to the right place.  Do check out the website which has lots of new information on it.

Night Shelter
Do support Coventry Night Shelter being run by churches across Coventry to provide overnight accommodation to the homeless.  Donations of sleeping bags, pillows and cash are all very welcome.  For details as to how best to give, please see poster at the back of church.

Crèche
If you have a child under three years of age, do take advantage of our crèche facility which was launched last week.  Children may be taken to the side room during the first hymn and collected during the administration of communion.  The crèche helpers will summon you if your child becomes too distressed.  Please do make the volunteers aware of any particular needs your child might have.  Thanks again to all those who have volunteered to join this rewarding ministry.
