9th November 2014 – 3rd Sunday before Advent
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
Special welcome to you if you have chosen to observe Remembrance Sunday with us. The Act of Remembrance will take place at 11am both at St. Andrew’s and StAPH and will include a 2 minute silence.
There will be a Barn Dance, including a hot dog supper at Eastern Green Village Hall on Saturday 22nd November at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Barbara Warner (024 7640 3458 or 07846 288036) and cost £8 for adults and £4 for children. Do join us for what is always a great fun evening.

The Finance committee will shortly be setting the budget for 2015 and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank those who give so generously to the work of the church. We are especially grateful to those who make a regular commitment to allow us to plan and to claim many thousands in tax rebate through gift aid.
Advance notice of a very special church social on Saturday 14th February 2015. A superb meal with live entertainment at the Village Hall as part of our 140th anniversary celebrations. Please put the date in your diaries now.
We are grateful to Paul Crowe and Lesley Lee for volunteering to join the rota for operating the sound system and powerpoint. Anyone else willing to help should speak to Steve Martin or Steve Wankling.
2015 sees the 140th anniversary of the founding of St. Andrew’s Church in 1875. The celebration begins on Sunday 25th January at 10am with a special service presided over by the Archdeacon of Coventry.
Greetings Cards for Prisoners of Conscience
For the last few years a group of us have met to write a message of hope and support to people wrongfully imprisoned for their beliefs. Amnesty International provides an excellent booklet detailing all the names etc of the prisoners. So do join us, if you can, on Monday 24th November at 7pm at the Vicarage to write some cards. These will be provided and there will be wine, coffee and mince pies etc. Donations towards the cost of cards and postage are most welcome. David Griffiths and Flix Haynes.
Our Missionary partners, Dan and Philippa Munday who are working in Nepal have undertaken to send us fortnightly updates by e-mail. These updates will be posted on the noticeboard at the back of church for prayer. If you would like to receive these updates directly by e-mail, please contact Julie Crow at email@example.com
We would like to establish a small welcome team to help make newcomers to the church feel welcome and ensure they become fully part of the church quickly (if they so wish). Anyone interested in this really important task should speak to Greg or Sue Masters. You won’t have to wear a badge or go on a rota!
Free first aid training is available, providing appointed person status to anyone who passes the day. The date for the one day course is yet to be set, but if interested, please contact Nigel Dawes at firstname.lastname@example.org
St. Andrew’s continues to seek to support the Kids Klub which runs at Jardine Youth Centre on Tuesdays from 5-6.30pm working with Primary School children. New volunteers are urgently needed. They warmly welcome anyone who wants to go along and just look. Tuesday 18th November is a good time to do this. If you need a lift, please speak to Greg.
Our new service for Primary School children and their families For all@4 next takes place on 23rd November at 4pm. The theme for this service will be ‘time’. All welcome to join us for an informal service full of songs and activities.
The new Messy Church for this area continues next Sunday 16th November at St Oswald’s at 3.30pm. All welcome at this craft based interactive family-friendly service.
There is currently a vacancy on Deanery Synod for a St. Andrew’s representative. Synod meets approx 4 times a year in different churches in Coventry South and Kenilworth, considering matters that affect the area. If you wish to know more please speak to Greg, Fran or Charley Watts.
On Sunday 16th November at 6.30pm St Andrew’s will be joining 50 other churches in a city wide ecumenical praise service. The Bishop has encouraged us to join hundreds of others in this twice yearly event at the Welcome Centre at Parkside. Anyone wanting a lift or able to provide a lift should speak to Greg or Sara Parkes.
This week’s altar flowers were kindly donated by Rosemarie Over.
