14th December 2014 – Third Sunday of Advent
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
To Kate Massey, her husband Liam and children Erin, Niamh and Anna as we say farewell to them this morning. Please pray for Kate and the family as they prepare for their move to St. Paul’s Stockingford, where Kate will be inducted as Vicar on 25th January at 3pm. All are welcome to attend this service. Please speak to Greg or Sara Parkes if you would like a lift.
We are still looking for volunteers to join the rota for operating the sound system and powerpoint. Anyone else willing to help should speak to Steve Martin or Steve Wankling.
Many thanks to all those who so wonderfully donated toys last week. These will be distributed via Coventry City Mission to children in the city who will otherwise be without at Christmas.
Grand Christmas Draw
Tickets will be available after the Service. Over 20 prizes to be won including chocolates, bottles and a first prize of £100 cash. Tickets are 20p each or £1 a book. All proceeds to Church funds. Nigel Dawes.
To all the volunteers who came to decorate the church last Saturday. Ann Dove.
The 2015 flower rota is now at the back of church. If you would like to put your name down for a week, please do.
Many thanks to all those people who came to the Vicarage to write cards to send to Prisoners of Conscience. We achieved a grand total of 100 cards written. If you would like to send a card or perhaps ask a friend to send a card there are a few Amnesty International explanatory booklets at the back of church. Do take one. Many thanks, Flix Haynes.

We are developing an exciting social programme for 2015 that includes a quiz night, beetle drive, Valentine’s Day dinner and much more. To see further details of this, please visit the website.
Shirley and Gareth Lewis will be hosting a 10 week Alpha course at their home, 900 Broad Lane, commencing Thursday 22nd January at 7.30pm. The course provides a great chance to learn more about the Christian faith and meet new people. The evening starts with a beautiful meal, followed by a talk on a Christian topic e.g. why should I pray or how can I be sure of my faith. This is followed by discussion, with every opportunity to ask questions before the evening finishes at 9.30pm. To reserve a place or find out more, please contact Julie on email@example.com or 07756 918847.
Link Thank You Party
We want to say a big ‘thank you’ to all those who deliver the Link magazine, rain or shine, each month; and so there is a social evening tomorrow Monday 15th in the sideroom at 7pm. All Link deliverers warmly welcomed.
2015 sees the 140th anniversary of the founding of St. Andrew’s Church in 1875. The celebration begins on Sunday 25th January at 10am with a special service during which Greg will formally be inducted as Vicar by the Archdeacon of Coventry.
There is a petition about the development to the north of Eastern Green Lane for objectors to sign, which can be accessed on line at: http://epetitions.coventry.gov.uk/2014/11/core-strategy-and-coventry-development-plan-woodlands-ward .
