25th January 2015 – Third Sunday of Epiphany
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
Please note that because of the increased number of babies/toddlers attending St. Andrew’s on Sunday mornings for the 10am service, we have begun to offer a staffed crèche in the side room for the convenience of parents.
We welcome John Green, Archdeacon Pastor of Coventry Diocese who installs Greg as Vicar.
We congratulate Greg on this very special day as he is formally installed as vicar of St. Andrew’s in the parish of Eastern Green and Allesley Green!
Today marks the beginning of our celebrations of the 140th anniversary of the founding of St. Andrew’s Church in 1875. It is still not too late to come to the shared lunch afterwards at the Eastern Green Social Club, starting at 12.15pm.
A reminder that Kate’s induction as Vicar of St. Paul’s, Stockingford takes place today at 3pm. It is not too late to come on the minibus. Anyone interested in this should speak to Veronika.
Many thanks to Barbara Warner and Fran Smith for organizing the Quiz Night. The quiz made £414.20.
At long, long last our beautiful window has been magnificently restored and was in time for Christmas. Many thanks to those who gave so generously to the window fund to enable this project (which has taken four years) to be completed. Special thanks to Trevor Hill who has worked tirelessly to as clerk of works and overseen every stage of the project.
We are still looking for volunteers to join the rota for operating the sound system and powerpoint. Anyone else willing to help should speak to Steve Martin or Steve Wankling.
Valentine’s Day Dinner
St. Andrew’s is organizing dinner and entertainment for Valentine’s Day! It will take place on Saturday 14th February and tickets are £20. Please see Fran or Rosemary Over for details.
We wish George Cooke every blessing in his retirement as choir director. George is standing down after nearly 10 years of loyal service to the choir and St. Andrew’s. We are so grateful to him. We are now seeking a replacement. There is a degree of flexibility about the role, so if this is something that appeals to you, please talk further to Greg or George about it.
Divorce Recovery Course : Restored Lives 29th January – 5th March 2015
This course supports and empowers people to move forward from relationship breakdown and to live a full life free from past issues. It is open to everyone, whatever your religion or belief. Each evening begins at 7pm with an informal meal followed by short talks and opportunities for discussion in small groups. These are led by people who have gone through divorce themselves. The setting is welcoming, relaxed and unthreatening. Although it may feel like it, you are not alone. Come along and meet people in a similar situation and listen to expert advice. For more information contact Tricia on 07919 080266 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or Greg on 02476 422856 or email email@example.com .
It feels like Christmas has just ended and already we are planning for Easter at St. Andrew’s! This year we will be running a Lent course on Tuesday afternoons over the five weeks of Lent. This will be an opportunity to come together to reflect on the Passion of Christ using the Bible, reflections and group discussions. We begin on Tuesday 24th February, and the sessions will start at 2pm and finish by 3.30pm. This is a great opportunity to go deeper into the crucifixion narratives and to think afresh about the unconditional sacrifice made by Christ for each one of us. All are welcome and if you have never been to a Lent group or to a Bible study group why not come along and be part of this group during Lent. If you want to know more or you are interested in being part of the group please speak with Sue Masters or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Many thanks to everyone who donated towards the Christmas flowers. Their generosity overwhelmed me. The flowers were put into the church on 22nd December and to date some are still fresh. Thank you again. Ann Dove.
Missing from the kitchen is a pair of blue handled scissors. These have been missing since Christmas.
Whether you are new to the church or a long-standing member we welcome your comments on the church, churchyard, service, etc. The Visitors Book is located at the back of church.
This week’s altar flowers were kindly donated by Jean Arber.
