29th March 2015 – Palm Sunday
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
This morning’s service consists entirely of a dramatic reenactment of the Passion story as told by St. Mark chapters 14 and 15, with the congregation playing the part of the crowd.
StAPH and Bannerbrook Park
The Bannerbrook Park Mission Team has been decommissioned (and warmly thanked) and the lead responsibility for mission on the estate taken over by the StAPH congregation. The St. Andrew’s congregation remains very much committed to this mission. Anyone who wants to get practically involved should contact Phil Richardson at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a prayer walk on Bannerbrook Park this afternoon at 3pm starting at 53 Astoria Drive.
The church’s Annual General Meeting takes place on Monday April 20th at 7.30pm preceded by Holy Communion at 7pm. Please note the change of date for this. If anyone would like to stand for PCC, please speak to Greg about this. Do come along to the annual meeting, which is a great chance to hear all that the church has been about over the last 12 months; and a good way of showing your support to all those who work so hard.
May Day in Allesley Green
St. Andrew’s is organizing a second Fun Day in Allesley Green on Monday May 4th from 1pm to 5pm. If you are willing to help with this by staffing a game or stall, please speak to Greg or email Julie at email@example.com or telephone 07756 918847. We have a particular need for a qualified first aider. Again, please let us know if you are available to help with this for some or all of the time.
Bannerbrook Park Easter Egg Hunt
The Bannerbrook Easter Egg Hunt is taking place in the park on Bannerbrook from 12-2pm on Saturday 4th April. Do come along, and contact Phil on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in helping out.
At the start of Holy Week on Monday 30th March at 7pm there will be a traditional Passover meal in church. It is a wonderful way of walking in the footsteps of Jesus – there is a sign up sheet at the back of church if you would like to come or please see Alex for details.
Volunteers needed to help decorate the church for Easter on Saturday 4th April at 9.00am. Also, if you would like to donate towards the cost of Easter flowers please see Ann Dove. Thank you.
An Evening of Poetry and Prose

We are in the process of updating our electoral roll. This is the record of church membership and anyone who attends St. Andrew’s regularly should be on it. A brief form must be completed, today being the final deadline for this. The form is available from our Electoral Roll officer, Lesley Harrison or Greg.
Holy Week Services
There is a very full programme of services for Holy Week. Please see the back of church for details. Anyone wishing to attend the Passover Supper should complete the sign-up sheet for catering purposes.
Please note the three services on Good Friday (Worship 4 All at St. Andrew’s at 10; Witness on the Green in Tile Hill at 12; and an Hour at the Cross at St. Andrew’s at 2pm) will be complemented by a walk of witness from the shops at Bannerbrook Park, meeting at 11.30am and walking to St. Oswalds Church.
Many thanks to all those who supported the Talent Show last week either by performing or coming along to cheer acts on. Special thanks to Victoria and the Sub 40 team for organizing the evening.
There is a service at Coventry Cathedral on Maundy Thursday at 10.30am which offers the opportunity to worship as a diocese together and to renew our commitment to the Lord. For further details or a lift, please speak to Greg.
The twice yearly City Praise service takes place tonight, March 29th at 6.30pm at the Welcome Centre, Parkside in Coventry city centre. Last time, some 900 Christians from over 60 different churches gathered together to worship. If you would like a lift, please speak to Sara Parkes or Greg.

Due to my illness, it is nearly a year since there was a Fairtrade sales table in church. I hope to ‘start up again’ on 19th April and continue sales as before, on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Fairtrade (Traidcraft) is a great charity, which helps producers get a fairer price for their products. This enables them and their families to have a better life style, with money for educating their children, better housing, a safer water supply etc. Please do support the Fairtrade sales in church, even if you only want to buy a chocolate bar once a month! Thanks, Flix Haynes.
Your Churchyard Needs You !!
Volunteers are needed to tackle the overgrown border between the church & the school house. Please come with garden implements on Saturday 11th April from 9.30am onwards.
The Besom in Coventry
Poverty, isolation, abuse, ill health, injustice, homelessness: we all see the sharp inequalities of life around us and the devastating impacts they have on people’s lives. Many of us want to do something, to get involved but we don’t always know how. The Besom http://www.besom.com/) exists to help you make a difference to the lives of others and to make it easy for you to do so. Please e-mail email@example.com if you would like further information.
Please note that Greg and Fran will be away from 6th-10th April at Spring Harvest. Also, Julie, the Parish Administrator, will be on holiday from 3rd-13th April. There will be no Pews News on Sunday 12th April. Please contact Alex on 07717 778853 in an emergency.
Please note there will be an Ignatian Service next Sunday (Easter Day) evening at 6.30pm.
We are still keen to recruit an additional person to operate the Powerpoint on the fourth Sunday of the month. Anyone willing to consider this should speak to Greg or Steve Martin.
