19th April 2015 – Third Sunday of Easter
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
To Alex on his new post as Vicar of the Pastrow Benefice near Andover in Winchester Diocese. Alex’s final Sunday will be 12th July, with his licensing on Thurs 10th September in the evening. Please put both dates in your diary. And do pray for Alex, Bev, Jacob and Bronte at this exciting time of change.
The church’s Annual General Meeting takes place on Monday 20th April at 7.30pm preceded by Holy Communion at 7pm. Please note the change of date for this. Do come along to the annual meeting, which is a great chance to hear all that the church has been about over the last 12 months; and a good way of showing your support to all those who work so hard.
Seek His Face
We feel that God is calling us to prioritise prayer and to make space for prophecy at St. Andrew’s and StAPH. Therefore Seek His Face is going to become a monthly gathering for worship, prayer and prophecy on the 2nd Sunday of every month (from May) from 6.30-7.30pm at St. Andrew’s. Do consider prioritising it, especially if you feel that God is calling you to pray or you think you may be interested in prophecy.
Our fortnightly Pram Service for pre-school children and their carers takes place on Tuesday April 28th at 9.15am. All welcome.
Grateful thanks to all who came to decorate the church on Easter Saturday. Also, thanks to Fay Gibbs and Alan Letten for the foliage and to everybody who donated so generously towards the flowers for Easter.
We will be taking up a collection this morning for the Pentecost event that takes place in Coventry city centre on 23rd May, organized by the churches together in Coventry. Please do give as generously to this as you are able. It is the principal act of witness that the church undertakes in our city.
May Day in Allesley Green
St. Andrew’s is organizing a second Fun Day in Allesley Green on Monday 4th May from 1pm to 5pm. If you are willing to help with this by staffing a game or stall, please speak to Greg or email Julie at email@example.com or telephone 07756 918847. We will also need cakes! Please let Greg or Julie know if you are willing and able to donate a cake for sale.
Dan and Philippa Munday
We look forward to welcoming our missionary partners, Dan and Philippa, to our Worship 4 All service on 3rd May, when they will be speaking about their experiences in Nepal.
You may wish to sign an epetition protesting about the planned provision of a car rental outlet on Bannerbrook Park. To do so, please visit: http://epetitions.coventry.gov.uk/2015/03/planning-application-astoria-drive-bannerbrook-park-coventry/.
Please note that the PCC recently agreed the following three priorities for 2015:
- Encountering God through worship, prayer and prophecy
- Deepening our fellowship
- The mission and ministry of StAPH and Bannerbrook Park
The Plant Sale will take place in St. Andrew’s Church on Saturday 9th May between the hours of 10am and 12pm. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be made available and there will be a raffle. For further information please contact either Trevor Hill or David Griffiths.
We are still keen to recruit an additional person to operate the Powerpoint on the fourth Sunday of the month. Anyone willing to consider this should speak to Greg or Steve Martin.

The next Messy Church is on the 26th April at St. Oswald’s Church between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. This month’s theme is “Loving Easter”. There will be lots of fun activities in the main hall for all the family including making “Messy Crosses” involving paint splattering, making junk model angels, bead bracelets, woven placemats and decorating Easter cards, plus many more activities to celebrate Easter. After the activities the families will meet in the main church for a short celebration followed by a party tea with food and drinks for all.
Thanks to all those who staffed Holiday Club this week and provided great fun and food for thought for the children who came along over the two days.
We are going to trial hosting crèche in the school to facilitate a closer working relationship between the crèche and Junior Church. Please see Becky Crowe for further information.
On 12th September, a party from St. Andrew’s will be walking the Coventry Way. This is a forty mile path that circuits the city, mainly through fields and off road paths, and unlike last year’s venture is entirely flat! You are invited to consider walking some or all of the route, mindful that we will be raising funds for both St. Andrew’s and the Laura Centre (a charity that provides support to bereaved children and parents who have lost children). We are also looking for a support group to provide refreshments and transport. There is a briefing meeting on Monday 22nd June at the Vicarage. Please see Greg for further information.
Many thanks to all box holders who have helped to raise a record total of £1325.14 to help vulnerable and homeless children. Your continuing support is greatly appreciated. If you know anyone who would like to have a box to help this amazing charity, please contact Jackie Lynch on 024 7646 7344.
