26th April 2015 – Fourth Sunday of Easter
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
To Alex on his new post as Vicar of the Pastrow Benefice near Andover in Winchester Diocese. Alex’s final Sunday will be July 12th, with his licensing on Thursday 10th September in the evening. Please put both dates in your diary. And do pray for Alex, Bev, Jacob and Bronte at this exciting time of change.
Grateful thanks to all who came to decorate the church on Easter Saturday. Also, thanks to Fay Gibbs and Alan Letten for the foliage and to everybody who donated so generously towards the flowers for Easter.
Many thanks to all those who supported our annual meeting last week. Emma Read and Nigel Dawes were reelected as churchwardens. The following were elected to the PCC: Nick Tooby, Richard Marr, Mathis Baumert, Anne Richardson, Diane Wilson, Jackie Lynch, Jeremy Thomas, Terri Beales, Daniel Smith, Trevor Hill and Steven Warne, who will serve alongside clergy, readers and Deanery Synod reps. Our grateful thanks go to Stan Cooper and Tricia Jewsbury who are standing down.
The next Messy Church is today at St. Oswald’s Church between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. This month’s theme is “Loving Easter”. There will be lots of fun activities in the main hall for all the family including making “Messy Crosses” involving paint splattering, making junk model angels, bead bracelets, woven placemats and decorating Easter cards, plus many more activities to celebrate Easter. After the activities the families will meet in the main church for a short celebration followed by a party tea with food and drinks for all.
An Evening of Poetry and Prose
To take place on Saturday 9th May from 7.30pm until 10ish at Eastern Green Village Hall. Cheese, wine and soft drinks will be provided. Please Phone Stephen or Eileen Warne on 024 7647 1350 if you would be willing to contribute. Tickets cost £8 and are available at St. Andrew’s from Rita Muir and StaPH from Eileen Warne.
We will be taking up a second collection this morning for the Pentecost event that takes place in Coventry city centre on May 23rd, organized by the churches together in Coventry. Please do give as generously to this as you are able. It is the principal act of witness that the church undertakes in our city.
Seek His Face
We feel that God is calling us to prioritise prayer and to make space for prophecy at St. Andrew’s and StAPH. Therefore Seek His Face is going to become a monthly gathering for worship, prayer and prophecy on the 2nd Sunday of every month (from May) from 6.30-7.30pm at St. Andrew’s. Do consider prioritising it, especially if you feel that God is calling you to pray or you think you may be interested in prophecy.
Many thanks to all box holders who have helped to raise a record total of £1325.14 to help vulnerable and homeless children. Your continuing support is greatly appreciated. If you know anyone who would like to have a box to help this amazing charity, please contact Jackie Lynch on 024 7646 7344.
Limbrick Wood Prayer

May Day in Allesley Green
St. Andrew’s is organizing a second Fun Day in Allesley Green on Monday 4th May from 1pm to 5pm. Young Expectant Parents Courses
On 12th September, a party from St. Andrew’s will be walking the Coventry Way. This is a forty mile path that circuits the city, mainly through fields and off road paths, and unlike last year’s venture is entirely flat! You are invited to consider walking some or all of the route, mindful that we will be raising funds for both St. Andrew’s and the Laura Centre (a charity that provides support to bereaved children and parents who have lost children). We are also looking for a support group to provide refreshments and transport. There is a briefing meeting on Monday 22nd June at the Vicarage. Please see Greg for further information.
Our monthly Ignatian Service takes place next Sunday at 6.30pm and will be led by Kate Dagger.
Please note that Greg and Fran will be taking holiday from 12th-21st May. Please contact Alex on 07717 778853 if you need to speak to a member of the clergy.
Please note that the PCC recently agreed the following three priorities for 2015:
Encountering God through worship, prayer and prophecy
Deepening our fellowship
The mission and ministry of StAPH and Bannerbrook Park
Please pray for Brenda Lawrence, Wendy Wilcox, Matt Monnington, Jo Hanney, Barbara Anderson, Colin Sanders, Beryl Poppit, Margaret & Albert Whitehouse, Kay Wilding, Lara Santostefano and Peter Shale. To add names to the list please contact Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 07756 918847.
