7th June 2015 – First Sunday after Trinity
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
If anyone is considering joining the prayer ministry/healing team, please speak to Jane Nye.
We have commissioned a home communion team of visitors who are happy to take communion to those who are unable to attend church. If you know of anyone who would appreciate a visit from one of the team, please contact David Griffiths on 01675 4422240 or firstname.lastname@example.org. A new home communion set has been purchased by the church and is being kept in the vestry.
Many will be saddened to hear of the death of Eddie Doughty at the age of 84. Eddie is extremely well known in the Eastern Green community, having served as our lollipop man for the last 10 years. His funeral takes place at St. Andrew’s on Wednesday 10th June at 2pm.
Next Sunday our guest preacher will be Ralph Hangar of Limbrick Wood Baptist Church, while Greg will lead the service at Limbrick Wood. This is a welcome sign of our increasingly close working relationship with our local churches.
Many thanks to all those who collected Christian Aid for the parish. Special thanks to Pat Sullivan for coordinating our collection. A total will be published shortly.
Lesbian & Gay Summer Eucharist
St. Andrew’s church is hosting the Coventry Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement (LGCM) summer Eucharist on Wednesday 10th June at 7.30pm. All are very welcome. After the service there will be a bring and share meal, so if you would like to come please bring an item of food with you. If you have any questions or want further information, please see or ring James on 07964 224391.
Police report on a recent visit to a relatively small road in the parish, they found as many as 9 vehicles unlocked. They are encouraging residents to be more conscious of their vehicle security.
Our next youth drama course open to 8-14s starts tomorrow, Monday 8th June at Jardine Youth Centre at 5.30pm for 6 weeks. Anyone in that age bracket is welcome to attend for some or all of the sessions. Please speak to Greg or Selina to arrange a lift.
On September 12th, a party from St. Andrew’s will be walking the Coventry Way. This is a forty mile path that circuits the city, mainly through fields and off road paths, and unlike last year’s venture is entirely flat! You are invited to consider walking some or all of the route, mindful that we will be raising funds for both St. Andrew’s and the Laura Centre (a charity that provides support to bereaved children and parents who have lost children). We are also looking for a support group to provide refreshments and transport. There is a briefing meeting on Monday 22nd June at the Vicarage. Please see Greg for further information.
140th Anniversary Concert
Jonathan Viera, a renowned Christian international singer, raconteur and comedian has agreed to perform along with his family at our 140th anniversary concert on Saturday 15th August, which will be held at the Massey Ferguson Social Concert room. If you haven’t heard of Jonathan do speak to those who heard him perform recently at Spring Harvest to learn how good he is. Tickets will be available shortly, but please reserve the date in your diary now.
Thank you to those who participated in our travel survey earlier this month. The results suggest that our reliance on the car to get to church has actually increased over the last year at both St. Andrew’s (81% up to 83%) and StAPH (59% up to 72%). There is also slightly less sharing of transport compared to last year. The average journey is shorter than a year ago, which at least means our carbon footprint hasn’t grown. The summer is a good time to leave home a few minutes earlier and where health and distance permits to use other more environmentally friendly means of travel.
Ashleigh and Mark
Congratulations to Ashleigh and Mark who were married at St. Andrew’s yesterday.

You may know that Christian Aid is part of a Climate Coalition who are organising a mass lobby of parliament on Wednesday 17th June to urge our MP’s to take political action to tackle the problem of climate change. For further details please see the red folder at the back of church.
Spring Harvest Social
We are exploring the possibility of taking another party to Spring Harvest next Easter. Spring Harvest is a five day break at Butlins with the very best of Christian worship and teaching available. It is a great opportunity to make new friends. To find out more, we are holding a social evening at the Vicarage on Thursday 11th June at 7.30pm.
The next Messy Church service will be held at Limbrick Wood Baptist Church on Sunday 14th June at 3.30pm. Messy Church is a craft based, storytelling gathering aimed at children and their families, with a meal provided afterwards. Speak to Andrew Rodgers or Laura Morgan if you want to know more.
