28th June 2015 – Fourth Sunday after Trinity
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
To Anne Richardson who has been accepted for training as an ordained minister in the Church of England. Anne will begin training in September at St Mellitus in London on a three year course. Other details of her training are still to be sorted out. Please pray for Anne as she does this.
We regret to announce the death of Peter Anderson (husband of Barbara) on Wednesday afternoon after a short stay in hospital. Funeral details will follow.
We have our usual range of first Sunday services next week; with said communion at 8am; Worship 4 All on the theme of Grace at 10am and an Ignatian Service of prayer and meditation at 6.30pm.
We have commissioned a home communion team of visitors who are happy to take communion to those who are unable to attend church. If you know of anyone who would appreciate a visit from one of the team, please contact David Griffiths on 01675 4422240 or email@example.com. A new home communion set has been purchased by the church and is being kept in the vestry.
Our youth drama course open to 8-14s continues tomorrow, Monday 29th June at Jardine Youth Centre at 5.30pm for 6 weeks. Anyone in that age bracket is welcome to attend for some or all of the sessions. Our theme is super heroes. Please speak to Greg or Selina to arrange a lift.
I would be grateful to hear from someone who is willing to take over a round in Upper Eastern Green Lane (192-230, 240-288, 294-298) 52 copies on a permanent basis. Our current gentleman of 89, quite rightly, feels it is time to hang up his boots!!! Our grateful thanks to Mr Jelfs for his commitment in delivering the Link for many years. ALSO – For one month only (July Link) can someone please deliver 59 copies to (Stonebury Avenue – 69-end, one side only). This is a holiday cover. Many thanks to all our dedicated distributors it is much appreciated. Barbara Warner (02476 403458/07846 288036) firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bannerbrook Park Community Day
The event will run from 12-4pm on Bannerbrook Park with a Ceilidh (barn dance) at 6pm. There will be bouncy castles, side show stalls, a dog show, local businesses and independent sellers, a bake off, village games and lots more! Volunteers needed to help man stalls, set up etc. Contact email@example.com if you are available to help.
Our friends in Germany (Black Forest) have asked if we could find a female pen friend from a Christian family for their granddaughter, Malena to help her improve her English. She is 15 years old and quite academic. She loves horse riding. If you are interested, please contact Jill Joyce at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On September 12th, a party from St. Andrew’s will be walking the Coventry Way. This is a forty mile path that circuits the city, mainly through fields and off road paths, and unlike last year’s venture is entirely flat! You are invited to consider walking some or all the route, mindful that we will be raising funds for both St. Andrew’s and the Laura Centre (a charity that provides support to bereaved children and parents who have lost children). We are immensely grateful for those who have volunteered to be part of the support group. A practice walk is planned on August 21st. Anyone who can walk 3 miles an hour is welcome to join us for this. Please see Greg for further information.
140th Anniversary Weekend
Jonathan Viera, a renowned Christian international singer, raconteur and comedian has agreed to perform along with his family at our 140th anniversary concert on Saturday 15th August, which will be held at the Massey Ferguson Social Concert room. Jonathan Veira is an international baritone who has performed with the English National Opera as well as in the West End. Tickets are available from Fran, Rosemarie, Jackie or Julie at a cost of £12. Because we anticipate great interest in this concert, we are not putting tickets on general sale until June 28th. Also that weekend, on Sunday 16th, there will be a tea party at the Vicarage between 4 and 6pm, during which time Charles and Jill Holbrook have very kindly offered to open up the old Vicarage to guided tours. At 6.30pm we will have a Songs of Praise Service in church.
For all@4 Family Service
The next Forall@4 family service takes place this afternoon at 4pm. This is an interactive, friendly service designed for children and families. The theme of the service this month is ‘Faith Over Fear’.
We are going to be running a Holiday Club for primary school aged children on Monday 20th and Tues 21st July from 9-3.30pm in church on the theme of creation. We have a maximum capacity for the two days of 30. The cost is £10 (£5 per day) per child, lunch included. Please contact Julie at email@example.com or 07756 918847 to reserve a place. Anyone willing to help with the two days, by providing refreshments or assisting one of the leaders should speak to Lesley Lee.
Alex Induction Service
Alex will be inducted into his new parish on Thursday 10th September at 7.30pm. St. Andrew’s will organize a coach to take us provided there is sufficient interest. We also need to know absolute numbers who would like to go (even if you would prefer to make your own way) because places in the church may be limited. Please sign up on the sheet at the back of church as soon as possible.
Please note that Greg and Fran will be on holiday from 15th-18th July inclusive.
There is a training morning on Saturday 4th July from 9.30-12 noon in church led by Revd Steve Burch for all those with an interest in prophetic ministry. Please pray for Matt Monnington, Brenda Lawrence, Sandra Watts, Barbara Anderson, Colin Sanders, Beryl Poppit, Jackie Page, Margaret & Albert Whitehouse, Kay Wilding, Lara Santostefano and Peter Shale. To add names to the list please contact Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 07756 918847.
