2nd August 2015 – Ninth Sunday after Trinity
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

The successful candidate will have a heart for working with deprived communities and a desire to see the Church’s mission prosper. This new three year post of 20 hours a week with some evening and weekend work will require flexibility, an ability to prioritise and a gift of motivating and organizing volunteers. The salary for this post is c £11k (£22k per annum) and the successful candidate will report to the Board for the Church Together. For application pack, please email: email@example.com. For informal discussion, telephone Greg on 02476 422856. Closing date 12th August.
On 12th September, a party from St. Andrew’s will be walking the Coventry Way. This is a forty mile path that circuits the city, mainly through fields and off road paths, and unlike last year’s venture is entirely flat! You are invited to consider walking some or all the route, mindful that we will be raising funds for both St. Andrew’s and the Laura Centre (a charity that provides support to bereaved children and parents who have lost children). We are immensely grateful for those who have volunteered to be part of the support group. A practice walk is planned on 21st August. Anyone who can walk 3 miles an hour is welcome to join us for this. Please see Greg for further information. A sponsor form is now available at the back of church.
Please note that over the summer holidays, starting today, we will be holding Family Communion services, designed to be child friendly, shorter and more interactive. The PCC has also agreed that the second Sunday of the month from September onwards should be a Family Communion Service. All feedback gratefully received.
Please note there is no Ignatian Service this evening.
St. Oswald’s Holiday Club
St. Oswald’s are running a Holiday Club during the last week of August. They are looking for volunteers to help. If you wish to help or would like to know more, please speak to Greg.

Please sign up on the sheet at the back of church as soon as possible.
We still require volunteers for the coffee rota, or it may not be possible to continue to offer refreshments after the service every Sunday. Please contact Jill Joyce if you are able to help at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our next Seek His Face, in which we focus on prayer, prophecy and worship will take place next Sunday, 9th August at 6.30pm in church.
With apologies for how long it has taken to process the results, but some encouraging news from the discipleship survey that all our congregations completed earlier this year. 73% of members report praying most days or more compared with 69% two years ago; while 28% now say they read the Bible most days or more compared with 20% two years ago. We continue to encourage members in these spiritual disciplines which have been proved through the years to be the best way of growing a faith that can withstand the storms of life.
I am pleased to let you know that a further £40 has been collected for the Gideons who are very grateful for our continued support and a receipt has been pinned on the notice board. There are empty tubes for anyone who would like to collect for this worthy cause. Many thanks. Barbara Warner.
I would be grateful for a volunteer to deliver 35 copies to Peregrine Drive (Park Hill) for this month only as Toby will be on holiday. We also need a volunteer to take over a round of 41 copies to be delivered to 142-190 and 447-479 Upper Eastern Green Lane. Please let me know if you are willing to take this round on. Many thanks, Barbara Warner.
