24th January 2016 – Third Sunday of Epiphany
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
The PCC are delighted to announce the appointment of Dawn Easthope as the new leader of the choir. She will be ably supported by our two organists, Michael and Ben. No doubt, George will continue to be available to provide support and advice. We are very grateful to all the choir for their hard work over the last 12 months since George’s retirement, with special thanks to Sue Barnes for all her work. Any queries about the choir should be directed to Dawn in person or at email@example.com.
Plans are being finalized to redevelop the porch that serves as the entrance to St. Andrew’s. We have two objectives in mind: to make the church appear more welcoming and to conserve energy. Accordingly, we will glaze the porch, move the oak doors to replace the gate and install more welcoming doors that are part glazed. This project, which has been funded by a generous legacy should enable us to save on our heating consumption, given how much heat is lost on a Sunday by the doors opening and closing. At the same time, during the day when the church is open, it should be possible for people to see inside without having to open the forbidding oak doors first. Anyone who wishes to comment on this project should speak to Trevor Hill.
St. Andrew’s will be running a further Restored Lives course for those who have been through relationship breakdown on Thursday evenings from February 4th (poster at the back of church). Anyone willing to help cater one of the evenings should speak to Fran.
Bringing hope by being on the end of a telephone, Crossline (Coventry), as part of the
National Christian Helpline, is in the business of bringing hope to all who call by listening and then praying with them. More listeners are needed to meet demand, to speak with another Christian who often does little more than listen and give reassurance and then lift them up in prayer. For information on how you can become involved with Crossline training as a listener please see the poster at the back of church.
A very big ‘Thank You’ to everyone who gave donations towards the cost of Christmas Altar flowers. Your generosity was overwhelming. The flowers are still fresh one month on and can be seen at the back of church and over the Memorial Book. Thank you again, Ann Dove.
The 2016 flower rota is now at the back of church. If you would like to put your name down for a week, please do.
