6th March 2016 – Mothering Sunday
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
St. Andrew’s wishes all mothers a very happy Mothering Sunday! We hope you get treated as the special people you are!
The annual revision of the electoral roll is soon to take place from 21st February to 20th March. If you are already on the electoral roll at St. Andrew’s, there is no need to do anything. However, if you have joined the church over the last 12 months, we would strongly encourage you to register your membership by joining the roll. See Greg or Lesley Harrison to obtain a form.
Children’s Society Boxes
The annual collection will take place during March. If you take your box to church, please ensure it is left in the vestry, otherwise I will collect from your home. Many thanks once again for your loyalty and continuing support for this worthy charity. See you soon. Jackie Lynch
Many thanks to everyone who supported this event. We all had a great time whilst raising £720.40 for much needed church funds. Well done all!
Once again St. Andrew’s have collected nearly £50 for the Gideon Society. They were very grateful for this amount and thanked everyone for their continued support. If you would like to support this worthy cause there are empty tubes on the table at the back of the church. Many thanks to you all, Barbara Warner.

Alpha Course 2016
Want to learn more about Jesus, the Bible, faith? Why not be part of the Alpha Course which starts on Wednesday 20th April. We meet at the Vicarage, are served a wonderful home cooked meal, make new friends, listen to a talk on a key aspect of the Christian faith and then take part in a small group discussion with a handful of others who are seeking to know more and share their doubts and questions. The talks are designed to encourage conversation and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. The evenings start at 7.00pm and the course runs over ten weeks with an Away Day during that ten week period. Further details can be obtained from our parish administrator Julie Crow on firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with Greg Smith or Sue Masters (07958 322026).

Hope for Mothering Sunday
At this morning’s Worship 4 All service, we will be celebrating all the good things our mums have brought into our lives. However, for some Mothering Sunday is one of the most difficult days of the year, a day to be endured rather than celebrated. With this in mind, St. Andrew’s is hosting a very special service this afternoon at 4pm. There will be an opportunity to light a candle as an act of healing as parents remember children they have lost through death or estrangement; children remember parents they have lost and would-be parents express their sorrow for the children they have been unable to bear. The readings and liturgy will be appropriate for such an occasion and we invite both those who struggle on Mothering Sunday and those who wish to show their love and support.
Our youth drama course continues on Monday evenings at Jardine Youth Centre at 5.45pm. Our theme this term is cartoon characters. Anyone aged 8-12 is welcome. Please speak to Greg or Selina if you wish to know more.
Tonight sees our monthly Ignatian Service in church at 6.30pm. This is a gentle service of reflection, meditation and fellowship, which takes place on the first Sunday of each month. We are a friendly group and all newcomers will be made very welcome. For more details please contact Kate Dagger on 0247645418.
As in previous years, on Palm Sunday, 20th March, we will be staging a re-enactment of the Passion story in our Sunday morning service. We can promise a powerful and uplifting experience which brings home what it was like to be caught in the action of Holy Week in Jerusalem that first Easter. Please note there is rehearsal for everyone involved on Wednesday at 6pm.
On Monday of Holy Week, March 21st, at 7pm we will be hosting a Passover Supper, re-enacting the Jewish feast which Jesus would have celebrated just before his death. This supper has proved increasingly popular since we first introduced it. For catering purposes, we do need to know numbers attending. Please put your names on the list at the back of church. There is a maximum limit of 20, with places offered on a first come first served basis.
The Tile Hill Job Club, led by Anne Richardson has got off to a great start with enthusiastic and committed volunteers supporting a good number of mainly young people seeking to get a foot on the job ladder. If you would like to help, please speak to Anne. Most importantly, please pray for the continued success to this key venture in the Church Together movement.
Seek His Face
Our next gathering for prayer, praise and prophecy takes place next Sunday 13th March at 6.30pm when the focus will be on healing.
Leaflets are available at the back of church, detailing all our services over Easter. Additional to this is a special Church Together Prayer Walk on Palm Sunday, March 20th starting at St. Andrew’s at 2pm. Leaflets now available with further details.
