20th March 2016 – Palm Sunday
St. Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
This morning we have a very special service in which we will re-enact the last few days of Jesus’ life. Communion will be taken as part of the drama and you will be encouraged to join in by shouting the words that appear on the screens. Many thanks to Lesley Lee, Rebecca and Steve Martin for their work behind the scenes and to all the brave cast.
The annual revision of the electoral roll concludes today, March 20th. If you are already on the electoral roll at St. Andrew’s, there is no need to do anything. However, if you have joined the church over the last 12 months, we would strongly encourage you to register your membership by joining the roll today. See Greg or Lesley Harrison to obtain a form.
Please remember the clocks will Spring forward next Sunday.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of St. Andrew’s will take place on Monday 11th April at 7.30pm preceded by a communion service at 7pm. This is the only opportunity for the church leaders to report to the wider congregation and parish on God’s work amongst us over the last 12 months. It is also an opportunity to show appreciation to all those who work so hard to make St. Andrew’s what it is.
Volunteers needed please to help decorate the church for Easter on Saturday 26th March at 9.15am. Also, if you would like to make a donation towards the cost of the flowers please see Ann Dove.
Good Friday Walk of Witness
This Good Friday (25th March) we will be doing the traditional walk of witness, meeting outside the shops at Sutton Avenue (CV5 7ES) at 11.30am. We will walk to St Oswalds to take part in a joint Good Friday service with other Churches in the area. All welcome.

Alpha Course 2016
Want to learn more about Jesus, the Bible, faith? Why not be part of the Alpha Course which starts on Wednesday 20th April. We meet at the Vicarage, are served a wonderful home cooked meal, make new friends, listen to a talk on a key aspect of the Christian faith and then take part in a small group discussion with a handful of others who are seeking to know more and share their doubts and questions. The talks are designed to encourage conversation and explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. The evenings start at 7.00pm and the course runs over ten weeks with an Away Day during that ten week period. Further details can be obtained from our parish administrator Julie Crow on firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with Greg Smith or Sue Masters (07958322026).
Weekly Giving Envelopes
Thanks to everyone who donates each week to St Andrew’s using the Weekly Giving Envelopes. April sees the start of a new Tax Year so new boxes of envelopes for the next twelve months are at the back of the church. Should anyone wish to join the envelope scheme please contact Richard Marr (01676 522697). Regular giving by envelope or by Standing Order helps us plan the church’s finances in the coming year and we are most grateful to all those who give regularly every week or every month. If you are a regular giver and a tax payer but haven’t already completed a Gift Aid Form, please do so as soon as possible to enable us to recover the tax you have already paid on your giving. Should you wish to increase the amount you put in the weekly envelopes or your Standing Order, please do so any time as you do not need to complete a new Gift Aid Form. Last year we recovered £11590 from the Inland Revenue as a result of your Gift Aid Giving. Richard Marr.
Prayer before Service
Anyone who would like to pray before the service would be welcome to join the small group in the choir pews between 9.40 and 9.50am. Please be aware that there is always prayer available after the service for any issue of concern.

To St. Andrew’s School on been graded a Good school following its recent Ofsted. Much credit must go to the school leadership and the very hard working staff for this accolade, very well deserved.
Jane Nye has stepped down as coordinator of the Healing Ministry Team due to work commitments. We are very grateful to Jayne for all that she has done in leading the team over the last 8 months. She will remain a valued part of the team. Lesley Lee has been appointed by the PCC to take over this responsibility. Kate Dagger will be the first point of contact at StAPH.
Tomorrow, March 21st, at 7pm we will be hosting a Passover Supper, re-enacting the Jewish feast which Jesus would have celebrated just before his death. This supper has proved increasingly popular since we first introduced it. For catering purposes, we do need to know numbers attending. Please put your names on the list at the back of church. There is a maximum limit of 20, but there are still places left.
On Tuesday 22nd March, there will be a special service at 7pm. Passion Praise is a service that celebrates the very best music through the centuries inspired by the Cross. Both choir and band have been working very hard to prepare for this service and would much appreciate the support of the wider congregation. The band has a written a new song and the choir leader has written a poem, both inspired by the Cross. Do join us if you can.
