29th May 2016 – First Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
Last Week’s Sermon
If you missed last week’s sermon from Anne Richardson on the work of Church Together in Tile Hill, do check it out on the St Andrew’s website.
There will an 8am communion service, followed by Worship 4 All (which has a Creation theme) at 10am with the Ignatian Service at 6.30pm.
Walk to Church Sunday
Thank you to all those who walked to church last Sunday. Why not consider during the summer months of warmer weather doing this on a more regular basis?
Prayer before Service
Anyone who would like to pray before the service would be welcome to join the small group who do so between 9.40 and 9.50am. We will be meeting upstairs to do this. Please be aware that there is always prayer available after the service for any issue of concern.
Tile Hill Job Club
The Tile Hill Hob Club is now running very successfully, but needs more volunteers who can help people put together a CV and look for work or serve refreshments. Training can be provided. If you want to know more contact Anne Richardson, firstname.lastname@example.org or come along Thursdays 2-4pm in St. Oswald’s Church Hall.
Games and Skittles Evening
A fun Games and Skittles evening has been organised by the church at the Jaguar Social Club on Browns Lane. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 for children and will include chicken and chips or a vegetarian option. Games will include a skittle alley, table skittles, Jenga, connect 4 and a picture quiz. Please see Rita to get tickets.
Supper n Chat
After many successful years of running Lunch n Chat, a support group for those who have been bereaved, we are extending our support to the bereaved by offering an evening group on Thursday evenings, commencing June 16th. There is a briefing evening for volunteers on June 2nd at 7pm in the side room. If you know anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one, do let them know about this group and suggest they come along. If you would like to know more, please speak to Rita.
We have successfully negotiated with the Eastern Green Club the right to park on their car park for our morning services. Please park considerately, ensuring that the exit is not blocked, and please do not stay beyond midday.
Limbrick Wood Prayer Meeting
Anyone who would like to support our sister church, Limbrick Wood Baptist Church might like to attend their regular monthly prayer meeting at the church at 7.30pm on Wednesday 1st June. Please see Greg for further information.
Daytime Home Group
A new home group, hosted by Norah Hall, is beginning on Thursday mornings at 10.30am on June 2nd. The group will meet fortnightly and initially will be studying the Lord’s Prayer. All welcome. Please speak to Norah for further details.
Donation of Games
St Andrew’s is supporting the new Youth Café being launched in Tile Hill early on Monday evenings from June 13th, supplying a number of the volunteers. If anyone in the congregation has games suitable for teenagers to donate or lend, we would be very grateful. These include Uno, Dobble, Monopoly Deal, Jungle, speed, Jenga or even a Wii console. If you are able to help or want to know more, please speak to Jill Pinks.
The Plant Sale raised a sum of £236 for Church funds. Trevor and David wish to thank all those who contributed to this event, especially our helpers and those who contributed plants and containers.
Hockley Lane Crossing Petition
Due to the lack of interest in the crossing patrol job and difficulty in crossing the road safely, especially for children at St Andrew’s and Eastern Green playgroup, a petition has been set up to try and get some form of a crossing on Hockley Lane near Church Lane. To sign the online petition please use the following link: https://myaccount.coventry.gov.uk/Petitions. A paper petition will be available at the back of church shortly. Deadline for signing the petition is 18th July.
A volunteer is needed to take over a round on Upper Eastern Green Lane: 192-230, 240-288 and 294-298 (46 magazines in total). If someone is willing to take over this round I would be very grateful. Please contact me on (02476 403458 or 07846 288036 or email email@example.com. Many thanks, Barbara Warner.
