Pews News – 12th June 2016

12th June 2016 – Third Sunday after Trinity

Welcome
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

Eco-Church
St Andrew’s is the first church in the diocese (we think) to achieve an Eco-church Bronze Award, the certificate was presented at last Sunday’s service.  Many thanks to Dawn Easthope for her hard work in undertaking all the administration and green championing around our gaining this important recognition.

Prayer before Service
Anyone who would like to pray before the service would be welcome to join the small group who do so between 9.40 and 9.50am. We will be meeting upstairs to do this. Please be aware that there is always prayer available after the service for any issue of concern.

Make Lunch Volunteers Needed
Can you help fill the holiday hunger gap? We need cooks and volunteers to provide healthy food and lots of fun for children in Tile Hill missing free school meals. 12.30-3.30pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school summer holidays at Limbrick Wood Baptist
Church. Contact Anne Richardson: 07973 221635, churchtogetherintilehill@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your help with this really exciting project.

Games and Skittles Evening
A fun Games and Skittles evening has been organised by the church at the Jaguar Social Club on Browns Lane. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 for children and will include chicken and chips or a vegetarian option. Games will include a skittle alley, table skittles, Jenga, connect 4 and a picture quiz. Please see Rita to get tickets.

Thank You
The Plant Sale raised a sum of £236 for Church funds. Trevor and David wish to thank all those who contributed to this event, especially our helpers and those who contributed plants and containers.

Hockley Lane Crossing Petition
Due to the lack of interest in the crossing patrol job and difficulty in crossing the road safely, especially for children at St Andrew’s and Eastern Green playgroup, a petition has been set up to try and get some form of a crossing on Hockley Lane near Church Lane. To sign the online petition please use the following link: https://myaccount.coventry.gov.uk/Petitions. The deadline for signing the petition is 18th July.

Christian’s Against Poverty (CAP)
CAP need friendly people to support their work helping people out of debt in Tile Hill and surrounding areas. Could you become a Befriender? Befrienders usually do 3 initial home visits with Debt Coach Ian Burton which could develop into a long-term relationship. We also need…Pray-ers who can pray in their own homes whilst visits are happening, help to run a 4-week Money Course teaching financial skills, donations to support CAP’s work across the city and Tile Hill. Whatever your skills we can use them to help those in need e.g. Maintenance, Admin, Fundraising. For more information contact Anne Richardson (Church Together In Tile Hill Development Officer): 07973221635, talktoanne@gmail.com. Or come to the Interest Evening on the 15th June 2016, 7.30pm at St James’ Fletchampsted Church.

Tile Hill Job Club
The Tile Hill Hob Club is now running very successfully, but needs more volunteers who can help people put together a CV and look for work or serve refreshments. Training can be provided. If you want to know more contact Anne Richardson, talktoanne@gmail.com or come along Thursdays 2-4pm in St. Oswald’s Church Hall.
