7th August 2016 – Eleventh Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
To Hilary and Steve Wankling who are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this weekend.
Through the summer, we will be offering abbreviated communion services, with family friendly activities and liturgy.
Please note that Greg and Fran will be on holiday from 12th-26th August inclusive. The Church office will also be closed during this period. Urgent enquiries should be directed to the churchwardens, Emma email@example.com or Mathis firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note there will be no Pews News for the next three weeks because of the holiday season.
Summer Sermon Series
Starting last week, the focus of our services is going to be on faith:
|31st July||The Basics of Faith||Sue Masters|
|7th Aug||Faith in Action||Greg Smith|
|14th Aug||Reasons for Faith||Sue Masters|
|21st Aug||Faith in difficult times||Lesley Lee|
It has been confirmed that St Andrew’s is the first church in the diocese to achieve an Eco-church Bronze Award. The certificate was presented at the June Worship 4 All service. Many thanks to Dawn Easthope for her hard work in undertaking all the administration and green championing around our gaining this important recognition. St Andrew’s is also to be presented with a Yew Tree which will be planted by the Bishop of Coventry later in Autumn. Following on from this success, we will be forming a group of people to take us forward into achieving the Silver and Gold awards. Anyone who has an interest or experience in the areas of Worship, Buildings, Land, Community and Lifestyle will be more than welcome. If you are interested in joining the group, please see Dawn Easthope or contact her on 07513 753899.
Thanks to those who generously gave at the gift weekend. It is not too late to contribute. We are seeking to raise £2,000 to meet a gap in the church budget for this year. In order to give, place an envelope on the plate, but mark it clearly as a contribution to the gift weekend. All contributions are very gratefully received.
St Andrew’s will be producing a Pantomime next January in conjunction with the Village Hall. Anyone who would like to be involved in this in any capacity (on stage or back stage) should speak to Greg as soon as possible.
A Quiet Morning on Prayer
We are holding a Quiet Morning on Saturday 3rd September 2016 from 10am–1.30pm (Refreshments will be served from 9.30am) in the tranquillity of St John’s the Baptist Church, Berkswell. The morning will provide an opportunity to learn about different approaches to prayer and time and space for prayer. For further information, contact Lesley Lee 024 7646 0048 / Sue Masters 024 7704 4140. A small contribution of £5 per person towards costs is requested.

Please note that the Sunday service on 21st August at 10am will be Morning Prayer (not Holy Communion) led by Lesley and Nick.
Tile Hill Job Club
The Tile Hill Hob Club is now running very successfully, but needs more volunteers who can help people put together a CV and look for work (training can be provided) or serve refreshments, the team is especially keen to find someone who would be willing and able to make bacon sandwiches for job seekers. If you want to know more contact Anne Richardson, email@example.com or come along Thursdays 2-4pm in St. Oswald’s Church Hall.
There will be a Memorial Service for Jean Burns on the evening (time TBC) of Thursday 29th September. All welcome.
Seek His Face
The next evening of prayer, prophecy and worship takes place next Sunday at 6.30pm in church. All welcome.

This project has been the most successful to date in attracting up to 35 volunteers from 8 different local churches including St Andrew’s. Despite this, prayer remains a vital ingredient in the success of the project.
A party from St Andrew’s will be undertaking a 26 mile sponsored walk on Saturday 1st October, walking the Arden Way, a circular route from Henley in Arden. You are welcome to join us for some or all of the route. Supporters also welcome. For further details, please speak to Greg or Veronika. We are raising funds for the church and for the HanCanFund in support of Hannah Miller, a parishioner who has become wheelchair bound following spinal surgery and needs help in raising funds towards an adapted wet room in her home.
