9th April 2017 – Palm Sunday
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
Children’s Church and Crèche
Children’s Church will be closed over the Easter school holiday, but colouring and simple craft activities will be available in the side room. We will open again on 23rd April. During the holiday, Crèche will meet in the side room. We have spaces for more primary aged and pre-school children to join us next term. If you would like more information about our programme, please ask Hilary or Becky. Hilary (07980 596646)
On Saturday 15th April at 9.15am we will be decorating the church for Easter. Volunteers required please. If you can help, please let me know. Thank you, Ann Dove.
This morning’s service retells the events of the final week of Jesus’ life in dramatic form. You are invited to join us at the top of the farm drive and re-enact the walk into Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday. Please watch the screens and join in as instructed. Grateful thanks to the cast for their performance; and special thanks to Steve Martin for his technical support; Jackie Page for the costumes; Nick Drayton for the filming and Kate Howarth for stage management.

Thanks to those who turned out in the rain to support the planting of the Yew Tree in the churchyard and the opening of Juniper Park by Bishop Christopher on Monday 20th March. It was an inspiring occasion for all involved.
Fairtrade at St Andrew’s
Sadly, it will no longer be possible to have Fairtrade food and gifts on sale in church. This is because the Fairtrade shop in Coventry (where we get our stock on sale or return) is closing. We are very grateful to all those kind people who have supported Fairtrade in church over many years. Thank you, Flix Haynes and Alison Watts.
Bring and Share Lunch: Sunday 30th April
By now we probably all know that Greg is due to be on sabbatical leave from May 2nd until the end of July. This will be an opportunity for the Church to wish him and Fran ‘Bon Voyage’, as they embark on a period of refreshment. The Eastern Green Social Club has been booked after the Morning Service on Sunday, April 30th, and we hope that many of you will want to join us there to give Greg and Fran a good ‘send-off’ with a ‘Bring and Share’ Lunch. So that we may ensure that we have a balanced selection of foods on offer, you are invited to sign on the sheet at the back of Church to indicate what you would like to contribute. please feel free to add to the list, if you would like to bring something else!

YMCA are aiming to provide a 5 month internship placement for Tobias Meyer, a young man aged 23 from Germany studying Social Work and Religious Pedagogy. Tobias would have a timetable of work with the YMCA which could also include some support to that particular church and/or its serving within the community. The placement would commence end of August 2017 and finish in January 2018. Tobias is aiming to raise funds in order to contribute 50-60 per week towards food/lodgings. Anyone who has been worshipping regularly at St Andrew’s or StAPH for six months or more is eligible to join our electoral roll. This gives you full membership rights of your church, which is especially important when it comes to weddings, christenings and funerals. It is helpful to the church in its negotiations with the diocese to have the roll as accurate as possible, so if you have never joined, we would encourage you to do so today. Forms are available at the back of church.
The church’s Annual General Meeting takes place on Monday 24th April at 7.30pm preceded by a communion service at 7pm. The AGM is the occasion when churchwardens and the PCC are elected; as well as the time when we hear reports on the many varied ministries within the life of St Andrew’s over the last 12 months.
There will be a number of vacancies on the Church council for the year beginning in May. The PCC meets 9 times a year on the 2nd Monday of the month. Anyone interested in standing should speak to Greg or Mathis. No previous experience of committees is required.
BCDM Modules Spring 2017
The Diocese offers a range of short courses to help us as disciples of God to deepen our faith and our understanding of the Bible. These modules, delivered across the Diocese, are open to everyone and are a good way of meeting with other Christians to learn and explore in a group. They are held in various churches across the Diocese and there is a small cost. The following modules are being delivered across the diocese in April and May; Creation Care at Westwood Church; The Bible in Five Acts at Christ Church, Cheylesmore; Understanding the Bible – Renewing your life at Ettington Church and The Book of Revelation at St Michael’s House, Coventry. If you are interested in any of the modules listed above or have more general questions about the course please speak with Sue Masters on 07958322026 or email me at email@example.com. To attend any of these you need to register with the Diocese www.dioceseofcoventry.org/BCDM/register.
At Nexus ICA we annually take a week, a Raising and Giving week towards the end of June, to do some fundraising for us as a college and us as a charity. This year we are all taking part in The Nexus Trek and Tour. This will be a combination of walking up four peaks in the Lake District and then cycling between them and around the area. This is a key part of the year for Nexus as it’s where community comes together and we raise money for the future years. If you’d like to sponsor us, pray for us or encourage us then please speak to Carys or Dewi. You can also head to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/trekandtour
