8th October 2017 – Seventeenth Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
StAPH becomes St Andy’s Church
After 10 years as StAPH, the PCC has agreed to rename our church plant as St Andy’s Church. This decision was driven by the need to ensure that outsiders understood that it was a church, and has the advantage of making the connection with St Andrews transparent, while pointing up the informality which is one of the hallmarks of the plant. The new St Andy’s faces an additional challenge following the immediate closure of the sixth form centre at Woodlands, where it has worshipped for the last 3 years because it failed its dilapidation survey. Please do pray.
To Anne Richardson, who will serve a placement at St James, Styvechale, starting soon and then as their curate following her ordination next summer. Please pray for Anne as she takes up this exciting new post.
Please note that Fran and Greg will be on holiday from 2nd-8th October inclusive (not again!)
So many thanks to all those who walked the Heart of England Way to raise money, supported the walkers on the day and the generous sponsors. In total, £1952.50 was collected for St. Andrew’s and the charity Archies Smile to be shared equally.
Whilst I am recovering from my operation Fay Gibbs has kindly offered to do the altar flowers. If you contact Fay, let her know what week and/or what colour(s) etc you would like and please pay Fay. I hope to be back soon, Ann Dove.
As of September 1st Emma Wildman took up her role as our new children’s worker. She can be contacted on 07969 066979 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Parish Safeguarding Course 0 (the basic module)
Everyone who has a volunteer role at St Andrew’s Church should now have received a letter from Greg regarding the completion of Parish Safeguarding Course 0. If you have not received this then please contact Julie on 07756 918847 or email@example.com. The Course can be completed online by visiting http://www.dioceseofcoventry.org/Safeguarding/SafeguardingTraining and clicking on “online basic safeguarding awareness training”. This should take approximately an hour to complete, at the end of which you will be invited to download a certificate. When you have done this, please email a copy of the certificate to Julie who will forward this to Linda Chylinski (our Safeguarding Officer). Please do this by 11th November. Alternatively, you may attend one of three two-hour sessions that Linda has kindly agreed to provide for us at St Andrew’s. We are very blessed to have Linda who has been authorised by the Diocese to provide this training and issue you with a certificate at the end. The sessions are: Monday 16th October at 7pm, Wednesday 18th October at 7pm and Saturday 11th November at 10am. Please let Julie know which course you would like to attend. Thank you.
