29th October 2017 – Last Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
This morning, there will be a special service led by members of the healing team where there will an opportunity for prayer and anointing with oil for yourself or loved ones.
Sadly, after 18 months serving St Andrew’s as church warden, Mathis Baumert has had to stand down due to pressure of work commitments. We are immensely grateful to Mathis for all his hard work over that time. We are pleased to announce that Stephen Warne has agreed to take on the role of acting church warden until our AGM next April. Please note that one of the chief tasks of a church warden is to act as liaison between the congregation and the leadership of the church.
Thanks to all those who supported last night’s Barn Dance at the Village Hall. A good time was had by all. Special thanks to Barbara for all her hard work as organiser.
The Link is ready for collection in the side room, if you deliver or are able to take to someone who does near to you, we would be grateful if you could take the bundle for delivery … many thanks. Barbara Warner.
StAPH becomes St Andy’s Church
After 10 years as StAPH, the PCC has agreed to rename our church plant as St Andy’s Church. This decision was driven by the need to ensure that outsiders understood that it was a church, and has the advantage of making the connection with St Andrew’s transparent, while pointing up the informality which is one of the hallmarks of the plant. The new St Andy’s is currently meeting in members’ homes following the closure of the 6th form block at Woodlands. There will be a service for the whole St Andy’s congregation at St Andrew’s this afternoon, Sunday 29th October at 4pm, a good opportunity for St Andrew’s people who have always wondered what happens at StAPH to come along.
Growing Leaders Course 2018
We have successfully run this course over recent years at St Andrew’s and we are starting a new Growing Leaders Course in January 2018. This is a course designed for anyone currently in leadership in the church or at work; or for anyone who is considering that they might be at some point in the future, whether that is working with a small group of children or adults, or taking on a specific responsibility in the church, at work or the community. The course publicity says: ‘It’s our hope that Growing Leaders will help equip leaders at every level of church life to be led more by Jesus, to lead more like Jesus and to lead more to Jesus.’ Interested? We are holding a social evening on Tuesday 7th November at the Vicarage from 7.00 to 8.30pm to introduce the course programme to people. If you would like to come and find out more please speak with Greg or Sue Masters (07958 322026).
