Bulletin – 27th March 2020

Church Bulletin

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is honoured every part rejoices with it. (1 Corinthians 12.) I hope if nothing else this thrice weekly bulletin will enable us to share our joys and sorrows; our anxieties, prayers and good news. For instance, I spoke to George Cooke yesterday, who was over the moon at having become a great grandfather for the first time. Congratulations to him. Meanwhile, there are at least 4 people currently suffering with corona like symptoms, so we pray for them.

Church Service

As last Sunday, we will be posting a service on the church website at http://standrews-eg.org.uk/ on Sun 29th. You can watch at any time, but we would encourage you if you can (and what else could you be doing!) to watch it at 10 a.m. You should click on the link at the top of the right-hand column, and it should take you to the service. Do let us know if you had or have any technical problems and we will try and help you. We had wonderful feedback last week. Do let us know what you enjoyed and whether there is anything different you would like us to do. We would like more people to contribute to the online services. You will need a smart phone and access to email. Please let us know if you would like to do this.

Children resources

Please find attached a resource for children, kindly supplied by Nick Tooby. We will endeavour to send something weekly on Wednesdays.

Congratulations to those older members (and some younger ones) who have grasped new technologies in the face of the corona challenge. If you haven’t yet plucked up the courage, now is a great time to do this. We would especially recommend Skype and Zoom, both free to download and use; and which enable face to face contact. Let us know if you need any practical help with this.

Food shopping

A reminder that if you need help with getting food, do get in touch with Julie by responding to this email or by phoning 07756 918847. Please give us a couple of days’ notice and don’t wait until you’ve completely run out of something before letting us know.

Clocks spring forward

Having joined a wonderful St Andy’s service last Sunday half an hour late, because I had failed to work out whether my watch was telling the right time or was an hour ahead, it falls to me to remind you that the clocks go forward this Sunday. The service will be there whatever time you tune in, but it would be good if we could all do it at 10 a.m. BST!

One result of the lockdown is that we won’t need to clean the church until Boris tells us otherwise. So, this is a good moment to pay tribute to our wonderful band of cleaners: Denise, both Jackies and Elizabeth (and Phil!)

Prescriptions at Tile Hill Pharmacy

Should you have a free prescription that needs collecting from Tile Hill Pharmacy on Tile Hill Lane, Sian Crow (our parish administrator’s daughter) is willing to collect these on a Saturday and deliver them over the weekend. Non-urgent prescriptions only please as Sian cannot guarantee to deliver before the weekend. We would need to know the full name, date of birth, address, telephone number and the items that require collecting. Contact slcrow@btinternet.com or Julie on 07756 918847.
