Bulletin – 6th April 2020

Church Bulletin

Some of us would have been sharing a Passover meal together in church this evening had circumstances been different.  We would have been remembering God’s deliverance of His people in a time of great national testing; how the angel of death passed over Hebrew homes and they were spared.  We who worship the same God pray that, while the death toll from the corona virus continues to rise in this country and around the world, our God who does not slumber or sleep will watch over us

Palm Sunday

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Palm Sunday service and were able to access it.  Some people have taken photos of their home-made crosses. If you’re able to, do share those via Facebook.  I did, latterly, find a whole bag of palm crosses. I felt rather guilty, like the person who has been stockpiling all the tins of beans and toilet rolls!

Holy Week

We will be posting a range of services through the course of this Holy Week.  Tomorrow night, there will be an act of meditation for you to tune into.  On Wednesday, Dan & Kirstie will post four worship songs related to the Passion interspersed with bible readings.  On Maundy Thursday, there will be a guided meditation to accompany a pre-recorded Gospel of the Watch.  On Friday, there will be two acts of worship posted; a service and a powerpoint reflection.  We suggest (if possible) watching the former at 10 a.m. and the latter at 2 p.m. if your diary allows.  There will also be an act of witness by the local church leaders, which will be recorded at 12 noon and posted as soon after as we’re able.  And then, we will celebrate the joy and glory of the resurrection next Sunday at 10 a.m.

Contacting the Vicar

You are welcome to contact Greg on his mobile number as well as the Vicarage line.  The number is 07902 794653.  Changing the practice of the last 20 years and contrary to what I said last week, I will be working Fridays for the duration of the crisis. This is because of the demands from funeral directors and the statutory agencies who see the church as a key player in supporting the vulnerable at this time.  Instead, I shall be off on Saturdays, grateful to the wonderful worship team for ensuring that our services are sorted in good time to enable me to do this.  If you have an urgent need on Saturdays, please contact one of the churchwardens.

This week, we will send out the bulletin Mon, Weds and Thurs at 12 noon.  There is likely to be only one mailing next week because of holidays.

Food shopping

A reminder that we are here to shop!  Please don’t wait until the cupboards are bare to ask for help.  A couple of days notice is very helpful.  Please contact Julie for assistance on 07756 918847 or administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk

Sermons on the phone

We are investigating the possibility of recording sermons and giving you a phone number to ring so that you can listen in at no charge.  This is for people who can’t watch the services online.  If you know anyone who would like to take advantage of this, please let us know.
