Bulletin – 10th July 2020

Church Bulletin

Grandparents are largely a modern phenomenon, it seems to me. Having spent some time exploring both my and Fran’s family trees, it is evident how often grandparents died before the arrival of their grandchildren; and if they survived they were likely to be working until they were clapped out. Not so today where grandparents are actively caring for their grandchildren in their droves. I say all this the day after Fran spent caring for our 14-month-old grandson, and is now exhausted, with arms aching from the weight of picking him up so much. It’s a great joy to have them, a relief to give them back at the end of the day and an opportunity to lavish our love. A reminder that any project that has love at its heart draws us closer to the One who is Love.

Communion on Sundays

We remain very limited as to who we can invite to share a live Sunday service with us as long as restrictions still apply. If you would like to come, do let us know. You may have to wait 2 or 3 weeks before we can fit you in, but we would like to give that opportunity to everyone who is ready to venture out. It is a much more efficient use of time if you let us know than if we have to ring you! Do contact Julie on administrator@standrews-eg.org or 07756 918847 to let us know

Do join us for coffee via zoom this morning at 11 a.m. via the usual link. If you need this please contact Greg.

Volunteer drivers

We have been overwhelmed by offers to deliver breakfast parcels to hungry families in Tile Hill. People’s generosity and willingness to help others in need is truly humbling. Thanks to Julie who is having to work hard to process all the volunteers. Because of the volume of the response, we are pressing pause on the request and not looking for anyone else to come forward at this stage.

Lap tops

Tile Hill Community Partnership have launched a new project to supply laptops to children without access to IT at home and therefore the school curriculum as well as older isolated people. If you have a second-hand lap top that is no longer in use and are able to restore it to its factory settings, please consider donating it to this project. Machines can be brought to the Vicarage. We will get them PAT tested and distribute them to those in need across the area. We have already raised £6,000 for this project and have purchased 10 new lap tops along with connectivity bundles for children in schools across the local area.

Jigsaw Puzzles

We have many 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles and some 500-piece puzzles which may be useful for people over the next few months. If you would like one please contact Julie on 07756 918847 or administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk. If you are unable to collect a jigsaw please give me a call and I can arrange for one to be delivered to you.

Police messaging

Did you know that you can sign up for free police messaging from you local police team, alerting you to what is going on in the community. Simply visit www.wmnow.co.uk to sign up.

Please pray for

Betty Wright and Bette Thorpe, both seriously ill in hospital. Give thanks for Mike Lynch’s improvement and pray that he continues to make progress.
